The accommodation sector is seeing a growing trend in design according to the principles of environmental sustainability, through the development of structures compatible with the seasonal cycle, which use local natural resources, employ local methods and materials, and adopt forms that blend in with the landscape. Sustainable design must seek dialogue with the outside world, and must be conceived and realised as an integral part of the surrounding environment.

Architect Apostoli’s speech is intended to illustrate these concepts through a number of case histories and the presentation of a current turnkey project undertaken by Rubner Objektbau to build a sustainable hotel on Lake Garda completely of wood.
