The new government’s priorities in tourism include beach concession reform, as advanced by the approximately 1,000 bathing establishments in Italy, which have for ten years been faced with serious regulatory uncertainty owing to the European Bolkestein directive and the Treaty of Lisbon, which would like to liberalise the sector.

To update beach businesses on the direction the government plans to give to the reform, Mondo Balneare – the sector’s reference website – will interview Tourism Minister Gian Marco Centinaio, who heads the department that will define the contents of the new law, and who has always been attentive to the issues faced by beach establishments.

Centinaio will talk for 60 minutes with Alex Giuzio, editor-in-chief of Mondo Balneare, in a live interview that will touch on all aspects of this complex issue: the imminent expiry of concessions in 2020, what the government plans to do after this date, the numerous judgements in this area and protection mechanisms for current businesses.
